Ken Carter was a basketball player for Richmond High a very long time ago. He comes back to find that the basketball team he once played for is going down into the dump. The coach that coached him still coaches for Richmond. Infact, he has been coaching for 30 years. He asks Ken to coach to coach for the Richmond High basketball team. Ken has a hard decision to make because his son goes to St. Francis which is Richmonds big rival. Ken decides to take the job because he feels he can make this team better and more respectful. The first day didn't go so well because the players weren't being respectful and Ken got jumped from behind. After that he made the players run suicides for 1 hour and 7 minutes straight.

In our meeting we covered several things. In summary we:
- Heard a summery (top of post) of the chapters we read
- Heard 5 words and their meanings one of our group members picked out of the story
- Heard 3 different passages a group member had picked from the story
We also discussed several different pionts of the story, along with different questions each member came up with, including the one under the summary on the top of the page.

I believe that in junior and senior high school an athlete should have to meet certain academic standards to be eligible to participate...first of all, we are a public education facility...the point of being there is to learn...second, I don't believe it is impossible for every student to keep a passing grade...in most cases, if you are trying and making an effort, the teacher will give you a passing grade...at the college level though I am not sure that should be the case...those athletes are used to make lots of money for the college that they are at...I don't think that academics is a priority in college sports...whereas in high school academics should be a priority...
I agree with that quasar teacher dude. He makes a good point about the high school and college levels being differant. In high school we need to learn basic skills and knowledge but its ur choice if you want to go on to college and get a good education.
As a group we said that thier is some athletes out there in but they are not smart. We alos said that they go to big school only for the fame.
We also agree with Quasar Teacher and Frank the tank.
